SPS-Alay sa Kabataan Scholars from Palawan in action in Dualtech’s industry partners

Dualtech Center, together with officials from the SPS-Alay sa Kabataan Scholarship Program and the Provincial Information Office, visited several Dualtech’s industry partners. The visit provided the team an opportunity to witness firsthand how scholars are being trained in Electromechanics Technology. Through this hands-on experience, they observed how the partnership between Dualtech and these companies is helping the scholars, equipping them with technical skills and character development.

Leading provider of electronic manufacturing services, Gruppo EMS, Inc welcomed Dualtech Center and the Provincial Government of Palawan to meet scholars from the SPS-Alay sa Kabataan Scholarship Program.

During the tour, the scholars expressed gratitude to Dualtech for the opportunity to grow both in skills and character. They also thanked Governor Dennis Socrates and the SPS Alay sa Kabataan Program for the educational support that made their training possible. Jayboy Ambo Surga, a scholar from Sofronio Española, shared how the program has helped him, promising to make the most of the opportunity given to him.

Mr. Cesar Enrique D. Modina, General Manager of Gruppo EMS, expressed his appreciation for the visit. He was pleased to support the youth, alongside Dualtech and the Palawan local government’s initiatives, as this aligns with the company’s mission to uplift and support the Filipino workforce.

As part of the visit, Dualtech Center awarded Gruppo EMS a TESDA’s Dual Training System certificate, recognizing the company for its training programs.

The team then visited the largest toll manufacturing pharmaceutical plant in the Philippines, Amherst Laboratories, Inc. The team had the opportunity to see how the scholars are applying their Electromechanics training.Two scholars from Palawan, representing the towns of Quezon and Sofronio Española, shared how the program has been a transformative experience for them, helping them gain technical knowledge. They encouraged other young people from Palawan to seize this life-changing opportunity.Amherst Laboratories also expressed their appreciation to Dualtech and the Palawan government for their continued partnership, emphasizing their commitment to guiding the scholars throughout their training and career journey. Amherst hopes to further strengthen the collaboration, ensuring that more youth from Palawan benefit from this scholarship program.

The day continued with a visit to the Enchanted Kingdom. The team saw how the partnership between Dualtech and the amusement park is providing Palawan scholars with hands-on training in a fun environment. Scholars shared their magical experiences, praising the supportive atmosphere and personal growth they have experienced. Mr. Jun Montemayor, an Enchanted Kingdom representative, applauded two scholars from Dumaran and Taytay, Palawan, for their strong work ethic and excellent character.The two trainees were also interviewed and shared their training experiences at Enchanted Kingdom, highlighting the supportive environment, continuous learning, and personal growth. They encouraged fellow youth from Palawan to explore the scholarship program, that with partnerships like those between Dualtech, the Palawan Provincial Government, and companies like Enchanted Kingdom, scholars have opportunities to grow, learn, and achieve success in their careers.

The following day, the team visited EMD Technologies Philippines, Inc., a global supplier of power relays. Mr. Shuichi Takahashi, Vice President and COO of EMD Technologies Philippines Inc., welcomed the team on behalf of the company’s President, Mr. Toshiyuki Goto. Mr. Takahashi expressed his appreciation for the collaboration and mentioned that Palawan scholars have a great opportunity to learn and grow through the guidance and training they receive at EMD Technologies. He emphasized his hope to continue working with Dualtech and the Palawan local government to support and train even more youth from the region.

During the visit, the team toured the company and explored various departments, meeting several current scholars and alumni who are benefiting from the dual training program.

The scholars were glad to share about the opportunities they have had and the skills they have gained through Dualtech and EMD Technologies. In an interview segment led by the Provincial Information Office, two scholars from Palawan, Ike Carlo Galon from Aborlan and Mark Anthony Conde from Sofroño Española, shared their experiences. Ike Carlo Galon spoke on behalf of the Palawan group, expressing his gratitude for the training and support he has received. He reflected on his journey from being a trainee to becoming a leader within the company. He shared how the lessons he learned from Dualtech and his trainers have helped him overcome challenges, and now he is passing on his knowledge to other trainees. He encouraged them to stay determined, saying that while the beginning is often tough, with time and perseverance, they can adapt and succeed.

The team continued the immersion at Sanden Cold Chain System Philippines Inc. where the company provided further insight into the strong collaboration between industry and education. The scholars undergoing training at Sanden shared their appreciation for the opportunity, particularly for the guidance and support provided by their trainers. Mr. Almar Maruggay, a Sanden representative, expressed optimism about the three trainees from Roxas, Quezon, and Brooke’s Point Palawan. Mr. Maruggay noted that these scholars are showing great potential, and if they continue to demonstrate hard work and dedication, Sanden plans to either absorb them or offer opportunities for further training in Japan, where Sanden’s headquarters are located.

The trainees expressed their gratitude to Dualtech, the Palawan Provincial Government, and the SPS Alay sa Kabataan program for making their education and skills development possible. They also thanked their trainers and Sanden’s management team for their patience and support, especially in guiding them toward improvement. “Being guided motivates us to do better,” one scholar shared, highlighting their determination to excel and achieve more.

The final visit of the day was to Richville Hotel Management (Vivere Hotel and Resorts), where Mark Benjamin Fermacion, a Palawan scholar, is currently undergoing training. He shared how the hotel has provided a positive learning environment, and he is grateful for the chance to gain hands-on experience. Mark also reflected on his brother’s positive experience at Sanden Cold Chain, further reinforcing his belief that Palawan scholars are making meaningful contributions to the companies where they train.Throughout these visits, the scholars consistently expressed their gratitude to Dualtech, the Palawan Provincial Government, and the SPS Alay sa Kabataan Program for opening doors to educational and professional opportunities that have transformed their lives.
