Patience and Perseverance

ALDRIN VILLANUEVA GOMEZ

The first virtue I learned in this school is patience. I increased my perseverance to do something not easy but definitely relevant as part of training. My curiosity increased my enthusiasm in learning academic and technical knowledge. I thank my mentors, learning facilitators, and the management for teaching us values while learning skills both at the same time. The ultimate learning this school can provide is the WORD of GOD. Faith in GOD first, before anything in this world. — Mr. ALDRIN VILLANUEVA GOMEZ, Class Valedictorian | Awardee, Gold Merit, Outstanding In-School and In-plant Training Performance, and Learning Excellence | Trained and Employed at First Philec

I graduated from high school at the age of 15, set aside my own ambition, and accepted the fact that I could not make it to college considering the financial status of my family. I kept on working at the young age until I reached the age of 22. That time, I was happy and somehow contented in my simple life; almost seven years of working at my cousin’s small business as all-around employee. I was trained as flexible as I could and continued to learn by experience. It was October 2013 when I learned about DUALTECH Training Center. It was my brother who introduced me to this school. I experienced difficulties to decide for this once in a lifetime chance. It was not easy to just leave my job and my cousin who needed my service. I prayed to God asking for guidance.

Looking forward to my future, I decided to enter in Dualtech Training Center. I strived to be accepted in this school. I aimed to learn new things, to develop my capabilities, and to sharpen my potentials. After a series of challenges, I passed the immersion process and qualified to be one of the aspiring DUALTECH scholars of batch 2013. I told myself that this was what I was looking for, opportunity of having high value education for those people like me who could not afford to have better education and competitive learning.

Being a student again after a long period of time was not easy for me. I needed to focus, to adjust myself, and to eliminate sources of interruption in my studies. Financial problems kept pressing on me. Transportation expense and daily allowances bothered me. I decided to use a bicycle for my transportation from home to school and vice versa. I traveled for about 14 km every single day for 6 months. I stayed in my brother’s rented apartment and partially received support from him. I passed my schooling and underwent on-the-job training. Because of the performance, they gave me the chance to be sent to my sponsoring company, FIRST PHILEC, which eventually appreciated my skill and granted me to be one of their promising scholars.

It was less difficult during the time of training because of the weekly allowances that I received through the partnership of school and sponsoring company. Because of this opportunity, I studied and worked harder even in the company as it is the extension of school to learn actual and real industrial tasks, systems, and processes. Basic from school is my foundation in adapting new learning while virtues implanted inside of me by this school are my weapons and strengths.

One thing is for sure, that no matter how far, wherever I go and whatever success my own journey will reach, it is you DUALTECH, who made a big part for the realization of my dream. The credit is yours my ALMA MATER.

I will always carry all the values obtained from you. I would like to bow my head and salute you all for your greatness. I am Aldrin V. Gomez, expressing sincerely my deepest gratitude to all of you. Thank you very much. God bless us all.
