MIDDLEBY ALUMNI GIVE BACK
Last February 26, Angelito Mirandilla, an alumnus from batch 2019, an SM Foundation scholar, visited Dualtech to turn over a donation. The contribution came about through a monthly collection among Dualtech alumni working at Middleby Philippines. The MIddleby alumni initiated the gift to Dualtech to show appreciation and, to give back.
There are currently 10 alumni working in Middleby. Spearheaded by alumnus Dario Tolentino, he suggested a twice-monthly contribution of P100 that will go to Dualtech. “Mag hanap tayo ng paraan para maka tulong sa Dualtech.” Mr. Tolentino told his fellow alumni. “Tamang tama lang ang aming sahod pero hindi kami mag-alinlangan tumulong sa mga “dating kami” added Angelito. All Middleby alumni pledged to help. And after a year, true to their word, P24,000, is now entrusted to Dualteh. It is the hope of the Middleby alumni that the donation will motivate the present scholars to persevere in their studies and fulfill their dreams.

Angelito comes from a poor family from Gasan, Marinduque. He stopped going to school after 3rd grade. With the help of the Alternative Learning System (ALS), he managed to catch up with elementary and high school studies. He grabbed the opportunity to enroll in Dualtech to get himself and his family out of poverty. He was fortunate to be part of the first batch of SM Foundation scholars. Graduating in 2019, he is working as a designer at Middleby Philippines, a foodservice equipment company.
Angelito is very thankful to Dualtech and SM Foundation for being his crutches to becoming a true professional. With the success of their first donation initiative, Angelito promises to continue their efforts and spread the word to his batchmates and other Dualtech alumni.
If we think the amount raised by the Middleby scholars was insignificant, then, we deny one poor and deserving student a chance to get out of poverty. Dualtech encourages initiatives like Angelitos’ from the alumni. Dualtech continues to encourage donations.
