From a remote area in Brgy. Sagrada, Palawan, to Industry Opportunities
With the guidance of teachers and students from Concepcion National High School, the Dualtech team visited a remote area in Brgy. Sagrada, Palawan, to meet the family of Joshua Alarcon, a Dualtech scholar.
The team was welcomed by Joshua’s mother, Mrs. Marilyn Alarcon, a 60-year-old mother of ten, with Joshua as her youngest child. Mrs. Alarcon shared her pride in Joshua’s determination. She recalled how he applied to Dualtech while still in Grade 12, walking nearly 1.5 kilometers daily just to find a signal to check for updates. Mrs. Alarcon initially felt anxious about letting her youngest child travel far from home, but she was convinced by Joshua’s persistence and the support of his father.
Mrs. Alarcon noted that whenever she asks about his program, Joshua admits it is challenging, but her constant encouragement motivates him to persevere. Joshua is currently a trainee at Tritooling Precision Inc., one of Dualtech’s industry partners, and speaks positively about both the program and his sponsor company.
During a particularly difficult period when one of his siblings became ill, Mrs. Alarcon contracted dengue, and Joshua’s father passed away, the company sponsored his round-trip plane ticket so he could return home. They also provided financial support for the family, which Joshua gave entirely to his mother.
After his father’s burial, he immediately returned to Laguna to continue his on-the-job training. Today, Joshua is being considered for absorption by his company, with the possibility of deployment to Germany.
Mrs. Alarcon encouraged other parents not to be afraid to let their children join Dualtech, emphasizing that the program is proven and offers a bright future. She shared that her son is proof that perseverance and determination can lead to success. Even before completing his training, she has seen positive changes in him and believes he is close to achieving his goals, which brings happiness and pride to the family.
Her story is a testament to a parent’s pride, a child’s perseverance, and the life-changing opportunities that Dualtech provides to deserving students.
