Dualtech and SHIMS CSR Initiatives Provide Educational Opportunities Across Camarines Sur
In a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project organized by Dualtech Center in collaboration with SHI Manufacturing Philippines (SHIMS), the team visited Sipocot, Camarines Sur, to donate laptops to Alternative Learning System (ALS) teachers. This initiative aims to enhance the teaching and learning experience for ALS learners in the community. Alongside the laptop donations, a feeding program was organized, and essential school supplies were distributed, providing necessary materials for learning. The event was attended by officials from Brgy Lubigan, parents, and learners who will soon enroll in Dualtech.
Ms. Letecia Avendoza, an ALS teacher, shared the long-term benefits of the support provided. “The contributions from SHIMS are just the basics for us to start with, but our students will benefit from it when they finish and have a stable job for the rest of their lives.”
In another community where many Dualtech scholars come from, representatives from Dualtech Center and SHI Manufacturing Philippines visited Caramoan, Camarines Sur. This visit inspired Alternative Learning System (ALS) and Senior High School (SHS) learners to pursue further education and training opportunities at Dualtech Center.
The visit included career talks emphasizing the importance of continued education and its impact on the youth in Caramoan. Ms. Sheryl Coronel, HR Manager at SHI Manufacturing Philippines, shared success stories of Dualtech graduates from Camarines Sur, who have excelled in their careers and are now regular employees at SHI Manufacturing Philippines.
As part of the CSR activity, SHI Manufacturing Philippines donated a laptop to Ms. Jean Naval Calayo, an ALS teacher in Caramoan. Another feeding program was organized, and school supplies were distributed to the ALS learners, providing them with learning materials.
Part of the community visit, which was referred by a Dualtech alumnus, was in Balatan, Camarines Sur. Dualtech Center visited Hon. Nena B. Bagasbas, the Municipal Mayor of Balatan, Camarines Sur to engage with Senior High School (SHS) and Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners for career talks and to offer much-needed support to the youth in Balatan.
Mayor Bagasbas expressed her support for the SHS and ALS graduates and initiated providing assistance for these applicants’ medical and transportation needs at Dualtech Center. This support shall ease financial challenges and encourage more students to take advantage of these training opportunities.
Two Dualtech graduates from Balatan, Mr. Ar Jhay Dela Marquez, who is now working abroad, and Mr. Dave Cerreno, a Production Supervisor at Tritooling Precision, serve as inspirations for the youth of Balatan to continue pursuing their education. This collaborative effort between Dualtech Center and the local government of Balatan will open new career pathways and future opportunities for the youth of Balatan, Camarines Sur.
Lastly, the final stop of the donation drive was held at Alternative Learning System (ALS) of Pili East, Camarines Sur, where Dualtech also conducted career guidance for the ALS learners with an audience of some ALS teachers. Dualtech Center facilitated the turnover of a laptop donation to Ms. Moriel V. Fajardo, an ALS teacher to enhance the educational resources available to the ALS in Pili East, Camarines Sur. Ms. Fajardo expressed her gratitude, stating, “I am really grateful to SHIMS and Dualtech for the great help given to us.” Her words underscore the positive impact this donation will have on their daily operations and learning delivery.
