Rotary Club of Manila Bolsters Dualtech’s Campaign for more Students

The RCM-Dualtech Scholarship Program was officially launched last December 12, 2021. There were initially 10 scholarship grantees.

Wanting to do more, RCM Past President Mr. Robert “Bobby” Joseph broadened his campaign. So, last January 5, the Rotary Club of Manila (RCM), Mr. Jerry Webb Muhi, Dualtech Executive Director, guested in DZRH’s Public Service Hour hosted by Ms. Mae Binauhan. Messrs. Joseph and Muhi were joined by Rotary Club Manila’s current president Mr. Felix Francisco “Chito” Zaldarriaga. The guests then spoke about Dualtech’s program.

Mr. Joseph was hopeful that there will be support coming from all the Rotary Districts in the country. “Sa tulong ng 150 clubs, 26 thousand Rotarians all over the country collaborating, hopefully we can increase the number of scholarships” RCM started the program and Mr. Bobby Joseph will “talk to all the [District] Governors” to invite pledges. The aim is to have 60 scholarships this year.

Mr. Zaldarriaga explained why RCM chose the project, “kaya naming gustong-gusto itong (Dualtech) sa Carmelray kasi karamihan ng mga locator naming ay yan ang hinahanap na skills. Skills that are not being offered by the regular schools. That’s why it’s (Dualtech) such a fantastic facility… and right in their own backyard.”

Mr. Zaldarriaga ended by saying the theme of Rotary this year is “Serve to Change Lives”. And what better way to change lives than to provide livelihood. “ Itong ginagawa ng Dualtech ito yung pundasyon ng magandang kinabukasan at ng pamumuhay”

Mr. Muhi quoted Mr. Morfe, Dualtech President, who likened the training in Electromechanics Technology in Dualtech to building a vehicle chassis. Dualtech provides the chassis and whatever is built on top of it is done during the in-pant training by partner companies. And still what the scholar receives while in school “Mas lamang sa hands-on training ang Dualtech” Mr. Muhi explains.

Mr. Muhi ended by inviting the public to visit the Dualtech website (www.dualtech.org.ph). There, one will find details in applying, enrolling and helping Dualtech.
