Cebu visit yields meetings with more ALS educators and plans for partners’ growth

As many of the industry partners have a strong presence in Region 7, Dualtech Training Center visited the province last March 2024. The visit yielded various meetings not just with DepEd officials and ALS teachers, but discussions with some industry partners as well.

In the country, the Alternative Learning System is a widely adopted path to education alongside the existing formal institutions. Thanks to an invitation from the DepEd Cebu Province, Dualtech had the opportunity to tell more Cebuano youth about scholarship opportunities in the municipalities of Cordova and Barili.

ALS passers, municipality officers of Barili, and ALS teachers attended the orientation held at Guibuangan Central School. These educators were instrumental for many of their students’ entrance to Dualtech and eventual employment. Ms. Vanjie Buna, the EPS for ALS in Barili, Cebu, explained to the audience that the Dualtech’s Electromechanics Technology program will only take 2 years to complete, including the hands-on training in school and the on-the-job training in the industry partners. The visit has led to more ALS District offices gaining a better understanding of the dual training system and Dualtech itself.

Equilibrium Intertrade Corporation, the Philippines’ leading distributor of top beverage brands and solutions, is rolling out its expansion in Mandaue. Since coffee machine technicians will be needed to maintain the equipment, the partnership with Dualtech will supply the needed technical staff to support the requirement.

The Dualtech team also visited Handling Innovation’s new office and facility in Cebu. The partnership sees further areas for growth ahead, such as allotting a space in the Cebu facilities for mentoring sessions with trainees, and moreover, taking in more trainees for forklift servicing.
