Sonion, Hearing The Call of the Poor

Sonion Philippines, a Danish firm, is the leading provider of technology solutions to the hearing aid industry. Sonion develops and manufactures innovative, efficient & high-quality micro-acoustic solutions, including the smallest Balanced Armature drivers, the best (biometric) sensors & wireless coils for the Pro Audio, Hearables and Communications market.

Dualtech recently awarded Sonion a Plaque of Appreciation for being a 5-year partner company. Throughout the five years, Sonion has proven to be a sound (pun not intended) partner. A partner that is loyal, healthy and in a very good state. This is an achievement not many partners can achieve in 5 years.

Take as an example, the story from the Dualtech website (www.dualtech.org.ph) of Joshua Lebanon of Veruela, Agusan del Sur. Joshua’s parents are farmers and everyday they struggle to earn a living. Oftentimes, there isn’t enough money to feed him and his siblings. So Joshua went to sleep at night often with an empty stomach. He quit high school because his parents could not afford to support his expenses.

At that moment, while Joshua was contemplating to join the New People’s Army to escape his situation, news came that the local government was opening scholarships for technical- vocational course in Calamba City. He immediately grabbed a slot and, without hesitation, flew to Dualtech Center to start his training. Joshua completed his in-plant training at Sonion.

Presenting the award to Mr. Niels Ole Jeppesen, Sonion General Director was Dualtech’s Executive Director Mr. Jerry Webb Muhi. Also present were Mr. Leonard Calma, Manager for Linkages, and Mr. Rodante Curitana, Industrial Coordinator.

Sonion at present has nine scholars completing their in-plant training. The company has graduated 22 Dualtech scholars.
