Rotary Club of Makati empowers ten Dualtech scholar through Dual Training System program
In relation to the recent MOA signing between Dualtech and Rotary Club of Makati (RCM), the latter has officially started their scholarship support for 10 scholars. The signing ceremony was attended by President and Executive Director Engr. Jerry Webb E. Muhi, along with Manager of Sponsorship and Alumni Relations Mr. Rommel T. Tejada. Rotary Club was represented by Mr. Senen “Bing” L. Matoto, the President, and Director Rodrigo Segura. The event also saw the participation of President Nominee Eddie Galvez, Director Neil Makasiar, Community Service B Director, Past President Bimbo Mills, Rotarian Paolo Turno, Chief of Staff Ron Dotaro, and Project Coordinator Rhia Vallejo from RC Makati.
The chosen scholars are from various areas such as the Batangas, Bohol, Camarines Sur, Leyte, Manila, Negros Occidental, and Quezon Province. Among those who expressed their immense appreciation for this development were Ryan Adan M. Daria from Tacloban. In 2013, the devastation brought by Typhoon Yolanda took the lives of ten of Ryan’s relatives. Many of their belongings were wiped away too, and life has been a struggle since then. Nevertheless, Ryan graduated from Senior High School, specializing in Electrical Installation Maintenance. His father is a pedicab driver and his mother juggles being a caregiver and a laundry woman on some days. Ryan believes experiences at Dualtech transformed him into a more independent, compassionate, and determined individual. In a recent interview, He thanked the Rotary Club for the scholarship support by saying he never imagined in all his life that he would receive such a gift, and that he is all the more motivated to work harder to eventually be a seafarer.
Another student, Arnold Cabanig from Bohol, completed his Senior High School education specializing in Electrical Installation Maintenance strand. His parents are rice and corn farmers. He credited his school principal, Ma’am Isidrita Bernante, for telling him about Dualtech. Arnold is immensely thankful for the scholarship provided by the RCM. With this scholarship, his family back home will worry less for him, and it will let him focus better on finishing his studies.
A well-known service organization, the Rotary Club of Makati was established in 1966. It is the first Rotary club in Makati and one of the largest among 112 clubs in Rotary District 3830. Its members are key players in various industries, and respected practitioners of their professions.
The Rotary Club’s collaboration with Dualtech is a life-changing project that empowers young individuals to pursue more fully their dreams and aspirations. Support for these scholars enables them to have a good future and fosters in them the spirit of resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
