Negros Occidental LGU Officials and Industry Partners Commend Dualtech Graduates

The Negros Occidental Provincial Government Scholarship Office and LGU officials from Sipalay City and La Carlota Municipality were guests in the recent trainees’ graduation in Dualtech Training Center. Togeher with 11 Negrense scholars, a total of 101 trainees received their diploma in Electromechanics Technology.

Ms. Karen Dinsay, the Head of the Negros Occidental Scholarship Program Division, was the guest of honor and speaker. She shared that more scholars will soon be coming to Dualtech. This happened through the career talk roadshows of Dualtech in the province and the dissemination of the many success stories of the scholars.

Her speech pointed out how education has brought a critical sense of hope to many youth and families: “Young men had already lost hope for an educational opportunity after high school, and they thought that since their parents can’t afford college it was impossible for them to dream…. [But] 5 years ago, the Negrense and Dualtech scholarship program was created to give a second chance to deserving youth for them to access education under the Dual Training System.”

Ms. Dinsay has served the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental for 29 years. She was the Provincial Information Officer of the Province of Negros Occidental for seven years.

Benjie Lawis of Masbate was selected to deliver the “Salamat Po” speech which summed up the thoughts of his fellow trainees in the milestone event. “Hindi hadlang ang kahirapan, upang ang magandang kinabukasan ay hindi natin maranasan (Poverty is not too big an obstacle, that we lose the chance at a better future).”  All trainees graduating that morning surely realized what sacrifice and work is involved when the former company janitor said “… sinabi nila na mahihirapan sila na suportahan ako sa mga pinansyal kong pangangailangan. Wala sa king problema iyon sapagkat kaya kong maghanap ng trabaho habang nag-aaral. (My parents told men they will find it hard to support me in my financial needs if I grab the opportunity to study in Dualtech. But I told them it is not a problem since I will find work while at the same time studying.)”

After taking time to thank all who helped him in his education and training, he ended his speech by saying that he has reached a higher level of success by making sacrifices down below. But for him there must be faith, perseverance and fortitude in order for each one to make it through.

Dualtech President Engr. Jerry Webb Muhi gave the closing remarks. He appealed to the trainees and alumni present to help him with a favor, that everyone be active in the Alumni Association. He said that while these alumni live in other cities, the evidence of their help is present in their support for the future students and scholars of Dualtech, and for the being pillars of the Alumni Association.

The event’s guests were, among others, Negros Occidental LGU; Ms. Ruth G. Patayon, HR Supervisor and Mr. Seneel De Luna from Asia Brewery Inc; Mr. Ferdinand G. Aquino, Engineering Service Manager, Asia Integrated Machine; Mr. Edgar F. Paiton, Head of HR, Legal and Compliance, Daiwa Seiko Philippines Corporation.
