Marubeni Foundation gathers Scholars during its Annual Thanksgiving Event

Fourteen days before Christmas, nine Dualtech scholars of Marubeni Foundation, Inc (MSFI) attended its 29th Annual Scholars’ Night. Throughout the years, Marubeni invites its scholars, past and present, together with the Board of Trustees and Officers of MSFI, Marubeni Philippines Corporation and representatives of beneficiary schools in its annual gathering to listen to the testimonies of success and gratitude.
As the program commenced, Mr. Celso P. Vivas, MSFI Vice Chairman, shared how the foundation started in 1989, by then General Manager Morihiko Maruyama, with the vision of providing scholarship funds for less privileged youth seeking a technical education, and eventually transform their lives through these opportunities. To date, the number of grantees has reached more than 3,000 since its inception.
Graduates and students from Dualtech Center joined this event in Makati City. One of the current scholars, Mr. Kenneth John Robea of Magdiwang, Romblon, shared how fortunate he was to attend the program. He considered the event to be one of his most unforgettable experiences- to see personally the people behind the journey towards his dreams.
“I was very inspired listening to Mr. Maoto Tago, the President and CEO. He told us that he was, too, a scholar in his college days. I hope that, in the future, I could share too whatever resources I have to transform the lives of many young men like me,” he said.
Joining these nine scholars was Mr. Bryan Jay Canacan of Calamba City. Looking back, the aid given by the foundation has helped his struggling parents, a vendor and a farmer, in sending him to Dualtech Center. According to him, the road to success was not an easy path, there were failures, hardships, and frustrations along the way, but Marubeni foundation has helped him through this. Now, after a two -year work in a semiconductor company, he is serving as a Learning Facilitator at Dualtech Center.
Before the program ended, Dualtech scholars performed a lively rendition of the classic Jingle Bells.
