GT Foundation M.E.E.T DUALTECH-STEP Scholars

The GT Foundation Inc. visited Dualtech to engage with STEP Scholars in a program dubbed as the “Motivate. Engage. Educate and Track (M.E.E.T.)” As previous meetings were held online, the event was the first face-to-face M.E.E.T. engagement activity with GT Foundation scholars in Dualtech. Fifty GTFI-Dualtech scholars under the Foundation’s Scholarships for Technical-Vocational Education Program (STEP) actively engaged with the GTFI team, headed by their Deputy Executive Director, Mr. Philip Dy.

In his own message, Executive Director Jerry Muhi said that whatever the trainees learned from the session, they ought to share it when they return to their respective companies. He encouraged them to pray and continue keeping track of GTFI so they fulfil their good mission to benefit many more beneficiaries of their projects.

The GTFI team regularly holds M.E.E.T. programs with its various partners’ scholars in order to promote student engagement, foster motivation, and provide financial literacy to the students. In this event held in Dualtech’s main hall, the “Kamustahan” activities include a sharing activity amongst trainees led by GTFI’s Head of Secretariat Ms. Lilac Lazaro.

Mr. Philip Dy said, “You [Dualtech] is helping us advance our mission of giving quality education to our scholars”. He also echoed the message of Engr. Muhi. That day was Mr. Dy’s second time visiting Dualtech. The first occasion was during his time as a Harvard University student when he studied the ethics in education which he had seen as effective and evident in Dualtech.

The engagement program would not have been possible without the assistance of Mr. Dy and his staff, and Ms. Ruth Chaneco, Training Manager of First Metro Asset Management Inc. (FAMI).

The partnership with GTFI started in 2015 when the foundation began its support for many scholars from Bohol and Leyte. Now, GTFI has already supported over a hundred of Dualtech’s own scholars, and countless more tech-voc students in other schools from many provinces in the country.
