Dualtech Center launches a Coffee Table Book
Dualtech Training Center launched a Coffee Table Book titled “The Running Boy,” featuring the rich history of the school, the stories of scholars and graduates, donors, community and industry partners, and many other stakeholders.
The official unveiling of the book was led by Dr. Jose S. Sandejas, former Chairman of Dualtech, and Dr. Bernardo Villegas, a member of the Board of Trustees. Their presence underscored the significance of this milestone as they have seen Dualtech from its early years to the present.
The story of “The Running Boy” was shared by Rovec Gepilga, a Dualtech alumnus and now a technical trainer at Reel Service Philippines. Rovec summarized the story by sharing that the presence of Dualtech trainees who reported for training during Typhoon Milenyo had prevented significant damage to the plant equipment. This inspired the then school President to commission a statue representing the Dualtech student, calling it “The Running Boy,” which portrays the eagerness of a Dualtech boy to study, work, and serve.
Mr. Leonard Calma, Manager for Linkages, elaborated further during his book introduction that the “Running Boy” represents not only the scholars but also the institution – Dualtech – which has weathered many typhoons over the past 40 years. It also represents its industry partners, corporate foundations, sponsors, donors, staff, community coordinators, parents, graduates, and many others who share the values of the “Running Boy.” They do not walk but run, pray, serve, and make themselves useful to others.
Engr. Jerry Webb E. Muhi, President and Executive Director of Dualtech, concluded the event with his closing message. He expressed gratitude to all contributors and attendees and issued a forward-looking challenge: “The challenge now for myself and the next leader of the school is to bring it to the next level, where the new generation will be able to serve whatever needs this country has.”
