Dualtech Center, EEI Corporation meet Mayor Dela Cruz of Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental
Local leaders of various local government units and provinces know the struggle of connecting young people to stable jobs. In the case of Mayor Marxlen Dela Cruz of Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental, offering free training to locals usually will not be not enough in case few are willing to put in commitment. Instead, he aims for the “youth in the municipality to have a quest for excellence and to be one step ahead, seize the opportunities.”
With this in mind, Mayor Dela Cruz welcomed Dualtech, along with industry partner EEI Corporation, to the LGU last July 12, 2023. For the mayor, “the program of Dualtech is a big help to them because it molds the youth not only with skills but more importantly with the right attitude. The youth will become future parents so they need to be ready for this responsibility”.

Throughout their stay in the province, Dualtech gave orientations about the scholarship program in partnership with Negros Occidental Scholarship Program; and also about the Electromechanics Technology course, the opportunity for OJT, and eventually stable employment.

Meanwhile, EEI Corp, one of the leading construction companies in the Philippines, informed various students and young people in the various LGUs that the company will need hundreds of skilled workers who may come from the municipality.

With adequate planning and fiscal management, an LGU is capable of investing in the future of the youth in their areas. And so, the LGU of Mayor Dela Cruz is now considering providing some type of support for prospective scholars from Don Salvador Benedicto.
Incidentally, the Don Salvador Benedicto LGU is considered to be youngest municipality in Negros Occidental, as it was founded some 40 years ago. It has been cailed the summer capital of Negros Occidental, and now it’s garnering attention as an agri-tourism hotspot.
The LGU has also produced many graduates. One is Marvin Lorion, trained at EMD Technologies or Nexem in Calamba City. Marvin is now a regular technician in a food manufacturing company in Bacolod.
