Dualtech and Ibiden support storm-affected communities in Bicol Region through career talk and laptop donation
In a series of visits across the Bicol region, Dualtech Training Center and Ibiden Philippines have supported communities with educational and career opportunities. From Sipocot’s farming community to storm-affected areas in Naga City, these initiatives highlight the importance of education, skill development, and sustainable support for vulnerable communities.
Through donations of laptops, career talks, and collaborations with local leaders and organizations, the team is actively working to equip both the youth and educators in the region with the right tools and knowledge. These initiatives are designed to enhance educational access, foster skill development, and create sustainable career opportunities for the youth and educators in the region.
In Brgy. Bagong Sirang, Sipocot, Camarines Sur, where farming and koprahan (coconut processing) are the main livelihoods, a meeting was held to bring career opportunities for the local youth.
Dualtech Center met with barangay captain Hon. Mylene M. Bandol and ALS South Sipocot coordinators. The discussion revolved around Dualtech’s electromechanics course and other programs aimed at equipping the youth with practical skills for better employment opportunities.As a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and advocacy to support education, Ibiden Philippines donated a laptop to assist in the learning needs of the barangay’s students and aspiring scholars.
Brgy. Bagong Sirang has produced graduates who successfully completed their studies at Dualtech. These alumni are now employed in various companies across the Calabarzon region, showcasing how education and training can transform lives and uplift families.To support the storm-affected communities in Naga city, Dualtech Center and Ibiden Philippines visited Angat Buhay office in Naga City, where they donated ten laptops. These laptops will be distributed to barangays in Naga City affected by the recent storm, providing resources to those in need.
During a meeting with Atty. Leni Robredo at the Angat Buhay office, the discussion highlighted the importance of sustainability and to focus on initiatives that can support more individuals over time.
Angat Buhay’s approach combines immediate assistance with long-term development goals. The ten laptops provide opportunities for communities to rebuild and advance. By prioritizing education and sustainable programs, Dualtech, Ibiden and Angat Buhay aim to provide lasting benefits to vulnerable communities.
The team also visited the Naga City School of Arts and Trades (NCSAT) to donate laptops to the Alternative Learning System (ALS) teachers.
This initiative aims to support educators in Naga City and various municipalities, including Goa, Gainza, Bonbon, and San Jose, whose teaching tools were affected by the recent typhoon. Six teachers received the laptops, which will help them rebuild their teaching efforts and connect better with their students.
Dualtech also conducted a career talk for ALS learners at NCSAT that brought together a diverse group of attendees from Naga City and across Camarines Sur municipalities. Students learned about career opportunities, skill development, and success stories.
Ms. Carren Gerardo, QA Supervisor from Ibiden Philippines, shared her inspiring journey about her employment at Ibiden which transformed her life through the supportive environment of the Ibiden family.
The team extended their commitment to corporate social responsibility and community development by visiting the municipality of Siruma, with the help of an ALS (Alternative Learning System) teacher representative.
The visit aimed to inspire and provide career opportunities to Siruma’s youth through career talks and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The career talk was attended by ALS teachers, parents, and students. During the event, Mr. Ryan Ilumin, Facility Manager at Ibiden Philippines, shared about the training in IPI of the Dualtech trainees, specifically in the facility division. The story resonated with attendees, providing insights into the opportunities available for the learners.
Ms. Angel Mercado, Senior HR Manager at Ibiden, shared the company’s profile and their dedication to helping young individuals achieve their aspirations. To further support ALS efforts in Siruma, Ibiden and Dualtech donated a laptop to the local ALS teacher, enhancing the learning environment for students.The team continued their outreach and met with Mr. Ricardo M. Tejeresas, the Regional ALS (Alternative Learning System) Focal Person, to discuss potential career talks for ALS learners across the Bicol region.
During the discussion, Dualtech presented its Electromechanics Technology Program, designed to prepare ALS learners with skills and career opportunities. Ibiden Philippines donated a laptop to support ALS operations in the region.
This collaboration will facilitate training and employment for Bicolanos which reflects a commitment among Dualtech, Ibiden, and the ALS communities to extend educational opportunities to more communities in the Bicol region.The team then visited Ligao City, Albay, to meet Ms. Chona Rebibis, an Alternative Learning System (ALS) teacher and a recipient of a laptop donation. This gesture recognizes her support and active role in connecting ALS learners with Dualtech Center.
Upon receiving the laptop, Ms. Rebibis expressed her gratitude to Dualtech Center and Ibiden Philippines. She shared that the laptop would enhance her teaching capabilities, enabling her to better support learners in Ligao City. “This assistance motivates me to work even harder and redouble my efforts in helping our learners,” Ms. Rebibis said.
