Celebration and get-together held to mark Engr. Arnolfo Morfe’s retirement, transition of presidency

“The leadership for Dualtech that Mr. Ramon Santos and I have thought of is not for one who can run a school. It’s for being you, as a person, as a professional, realizing the vision of St. Josemaria [Escriva]…What will give us stress and pressure is if we think the job is ours alone. But this job is not mine, it’s not Jerry’s, it’s not yours, it’s God’s.” With these remarks in the May 27, 2023 staff get together, Engr. Arnolfo S. Morfe (Sir Arnold) marked his retirement and the formal transition of the Dualtech’s presidency. He was referring to Mr. Ramon Santos; a former president of the school, and St. Josemaria Escriva, who is described by Wikipedia as “the Saint of Ordinary Life.”

In addition to acknowledging Sir Arnold’s 36 years with the school, Dualtech recognized the following service awardees as well:
- Reynante Pilar- 20 years
- Al Mondejar – 15 years
- Jefferson Gonzales – 15 years
- Mike Ruado – 5 years

The turnover slide presentation showed various recollections and highlights of the past 36 years during the tenure of the outgoing president. Some members of the staff from various departments gave heartfelt messages as they shared memories of their time working with Sir Arnold. Close friends who could not attend the event sent video greetings and congratulations.
After a successful tenure as president, Sir Arnold gave on that morning a message of confidence and reassurance for the staff – that they are capable of running the show. He also shared some of his wisdom and advice so that they can continue to provide for the organization in a successful manner. His words are not only inspiring but also provide guidance on how to lead and succeed in their respective roles.

Sir Arnold’s transition from president to an advisor is an example of how effective leadership can be successfully passed on from one generation to another. His words will remain with the staff as they move forward and will serve as a reminder of how important it is to have faith in one’s team and their capabilities. The words of Blessed Alvaro del Portillo (late Prelate of Opus Dei) continues to resonate as Sir Arnold puts it: Perdon, Gratias, Ayudame Mas! (Sorry, thank you, help me more!)

As Engr. Jerry Webb E. Muhi (Sir Jerry) takes the new role as the incoming president, he took the moment to thank and acknowledge the efforts of Sir Arnold and his tireless contribution he has put in over the years to make this institution what it is today. Sir Jerry used the metaphor of “everyone is retiring” to encourage everyone to let go of outdated strategies, and instead to adopt a new mindset of achieving the corporate goals for the next stage: “So when I say all of us are retiring, it has to be anchored on what Dualtech needs. Each one of us should retire because we have to propel this rocket called Dualtech on the second stage.”
At the conclusion of the event, Engr. Jerry challenged everyone: “Let us make everything in this institution something that you will truly cherish, enjoy, and be proud of”.
