A day of “Kamustahan” with Marubeni Scholarship Foundation

“Kamustahan” means a friendly catch-up, and that is the case when Marubeni Scholarship Foundation, Inc (MSFI) visited the school for a get-together with some of its scholars. During the event, Dualtech awarded a plaque of appreciation to Ms. Jocelyn Dee (Executive Director, Marubeni Scholarship Foundation, Inc.) and her colleague Ms. April Gay Marquez for the foundation’s continuous partnership and financial assistance to Dualtech trainees. This was awarded to them as part of the school’s 40^th Anniversary headed by Dualtech’s President Engr. Arnolfo S. Morfe and witnessed by Head of Scholarship Mr. Jose Jacob and Sponsorship Consultant Mr. Leo Calderon.

Another highlight in the awarding was to acknowledge Marubeni’s milestone with Dualtech, which is 20 scholars for 2022. Two of the scholars shared their testimonials and the impact of the scholarship on their schooling. For example, in the case of Justine Caraan from Nasugbu, studying in Dualtech and gaining the scholarship was a radical shift. Prior to studying in the Laguna campus, he has experienced being a corn planter and during the pandemic, during construction work just to help his family.

In his words: “I have dreams and goals in life. I never dwell too much on these kinds of challenges but instead I exert more effort in studying. So I am so happy and grateful, together with my parents, to be selected as a scholar of Marubeni. This support is really meaningful for me as it is not only a financial boost but also an inspiration for me to help others.”

As for Jastien Peleño of Calamba, Laguna, he related his experience of material and financial challenges at an early age. He worked as delivery staff for a fast food chain just to support his high school studies. He values studying in Dualtech “as a blessing that leads a path to a successful and rewarding career.”

MSFI has supported over 500 scholars, including the latest 20 scholars for 2022, since it started its scholarship program with Dualtech. It mainly provides financial assistance to talented and deserving students. The scholarship aims to help these students achieve their academic and career aspirations and contribute to the development of the Philippines. The scholarship also provides opportunities for the scholars to participate in various activities and programs that will enhance their knowledge, skills, and overall development.
