RMN Broadcasting Signals of Hope

“Through the Radyo Edukasyon Program, one of the main pillars of the RMN Foundation, we want to ensure na mabibigyan din ng oportunidad ang mga kabataan na ‘to and at the same time they will also be able to give back to the society.” – RMN Executive VP Canoy-Sanchez
Bringing its service beyond news and media and also taking action towards social problems, the broadcasting firm of Radio Mindanao Networks (RMN) and its charitable initiative RMN Foundation (RMNF) formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Dualtech Training Center Foundation, Inc. last April 27, 2022. The scholarship agreement will sponsor seven (7) scholars under the Henry R. Canoy Scholarship Program.

After the MOA signing, Radio DJ Ms. Jenny Pahilanga invited “on-air” 2 out of the 7 scholars namely Jeffrey Juyad from Bohol and Paolo De Guia Trongcoso from Quezon alongside RMN EVP, Ms. Canoy-Sanchez, and Dualtech’s Executive Director, Engr. Jerry Webb Muhi.
Jeff-jeff was among the first scholars from Bohol. To help his father in the province, he worked in the farm, in the car shop repair, and did chores for their neighbors by sweeping their front yard for a small amount of money to get by. He had an early realization that they could no longer study after Grade 12. Jeff-jeff knew he had to step up and do something which would change his fate; that was when he encountered Dualtech Training Center Foundation, Inc. in a campaign in Bohol.
“I am thankful to Dualtech for introducing me this Electromechanics program, also by being a Henry R. Canoy scholar under the RMN Foundation”, Jeff-jeff told on-air during the RMN broadcast.
The second scholar was a Samar-native, Paolo Trongcoso, eldest among 6 children. He went to Dualtech with hope of breaking the cycle of poverty. He worked as a pedicab driver, fish vendor, water refilling boy, and also a computer attendant. He had this burning passion to never give up despite the challenges.
“I would like to share my gratitude with Ms. Landicho [DepEd Tayabas], Dualtech, and also the RMN Foundation for helping me with my studies for it were not for them, I could still be working with my menial jobs back at our province. With that, I am hoping to finish my 2-year Electromechanical Technologies with Dualtech and able to graduate with skills which I can use towards a better future.”, as stated by Paolo during the interview.
Jan de Sena, a 21-year old from Marinduque was chosen as the next scholar. Youngest among eight (8) children, he worked as a farmer, construction worker, and fish vendor like his father.
Recently, Kasfried Cabrera from Cavite was granted the sponsorship. “Dualtech helped me to become more faithful with God due to their values formation while I was studying. I would also like to share how thankful I am with the Learning Facilitators (LF) as well as RMN Foundation, Inc. for their scholarship which would help me. In return, I promised to be good with my co-trainees and be diligent with my duties as a student”, he said.
With the 70th years of RMN, RMNF scholars also received phone tablets each as part of their educational assistance. The scholars and their families are thankful for the opportunities that are given by both the RMNF and Dualtech Center for making them part of the Henry R. Canoy Scholarship Program.
RMNF was founded back in September 5, 2012 (setting the 10th anniversary this year) in line with the social responsibility or humanitarian social welfare of RMN to its community.
