Dualtech Training Center and Tesda Zamboanga Peninsula have formalized a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to enhance Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the region by integrating values education. The signing ceremony took place at the New Roxan Hotel and Restaurant in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.
This initiative is focused on providing specialized training in values education for trainers from TESDA Region IX Zamboanga Peninsula and other private technical-vocational institutions in the region. In his message, Engr. Jerry Webb E. Muhi, President and Executive Director of Dualtech Center, emphasized the institution’s pioneering role in the Dual Training System, which integrates values education with technical skills. He highlighted the importance of this combination for workforce development, noting its lasting positive impact on the industry and reflecting Dualtech’s motto, “Virtue and Work.”
Regional Director Tarhata S. Mapandi, CESO III, stressed the significance of this collaboration in developing a TVET system that is ethical, God-centered, people-focused, and socially responsible. She noted that Dualtech will provide training programs to institutionalize values education within skills training, addressing the industry’s need for a workforce that excels technically while embodying strong ethical principles.
In his closing remarks, TESDA Provincial Director of Zamboanga Sibugay, Adrian B. Ampong, expressed his gratitude for the initiative, recognizing its potential to transform TVET in Region IX. He highlighted the challenges related to work values and attitudes, particularly among senior high school graduates, and how this partnership could address these issues, improving employability.
Following the MOA signing, Tesda Zamboanga Peninsula facilitated a tour for the Dualtech team at Our Lady of Triumph School, one of the region’s Technical-Vocational Institutions (TVIs). This visit provided further insights into the region’s educational landscape.
Aside from the MOA signing, the team attended activities together with TESDA Zamboaga Peninsula such as a courtesy visit with the Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) of Pagadian City, where they updated the office about the status of the first batch of scholars from Pagadian City and their employment in various companies.
