Opportunities That Changed a Life: A Scholar from Negros Occidental Shares His Story of Career Development Through Scholarship and Dual Training Program
After graduating from high school, Justin C. Lee, a scholar of the Negrense Dualtech Scholarship Program from the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, applied to five universities and was able to pass two of them. However, he hesitated to continue due to his financial situation.
As the only child supporting his mother and with two younger sisters to care for, continuing college became difficult at that time. Despite this, he remained determined to continue learning.
Justin later applied for a scholarship and was accepted as a Dualtech scholar. This opportunity became a turning point in his life, allowing him to pursue technical education and training. At first, he found it difficult to understand some lessons, as the diagrams were confusing for him. However, as time passed, he slowly learned how to analyze and understand them, which helped him improve his skills and confidence in technical work.
Justin was deployed at Ibiden Philippines, Inc. as an Equipment Maintenance trainee. At first, he felt weak and unsure of himself in the actual workplace environment. However, through the guidance of his workmates—many of whom were Dualtech graduates—he gradually learned how to perform his tasks properly and improve his performance. Over time, he was able to show his full potential and grow more confident in his role.
At present, he is working at Ibiden Philippines, Inc., now more skilled, confident, and disciplined. He credits Dualtech for shaping him not only technically but also personally—teaching him responsibility, professionalism, and respect for others.
He believes that Dualtech opened many opportunities for him and has served as a strong foundation for his career growth.
