From “I Don’t Know” to “I Can Do It”

For Michael Sangahin, a Dualtech graduate, becoming a regular employee and Certified Inspector at Tanduay Distillers Inc. is a milestone he once thought was beyond his reach.Michael came from a simple family in Lugui, Labo, Camarines Norte. While his family had limited financial resources, they supported him and encouraged him to pursue his studies. In 2017, he began his training at Dualtech Training Center with little knowledge of Electrical, Mechanical, and Electronics, but with a strong determination to learn.

His training at Dualtech was not always easy. There were times when he felt tired, made mistakes, and questioned whether he could succeed. However, each challenge became an opportunity to learn. Through technical training, hands-on activities, and guidance from his trainers, Michael developed his technical skills while also building the discipline and values needed in the workplace.Dualtech taught him the fundamentals of Electrical, Mechanical, and Electronics, including proper wiring, reading diagrams, troubleshooting, understanding machine components, and working with control systems and automation. More importantly, he learned the value of punctuality, respect, responsibility, and excellence.

One lesson that stayed with Michael was that it is okay not to know everything at the beginning. What matters is being willing to learn. This mindset helped him move from saying, “I don’t know,” to believing, “I can learn.”After completing his basic training at Dualtech, Michael continued his training at Tanduay Distillers Inc., where he applied what he had learned while gaining practical experience working with machines, conveyor systems, sensors, and control panels, as well as in quality control and inspection.

His experience also taught him that being capable at work goes beyond technical knowledge. He learned to work well with others, respect his colleagues and supervisors, take responsibility, and earn the trust of those around him.

His dedication and willingness to learn opened new opportunities. His journey from a young trainee with little knowledge eventually led him to become a regular employee and Certified Inspector at Tanduay.Looking back, Michael credits his parents, Dualtech, Tanduay, and his faith for helping him reach where he is today. He remains grateful to Dualtech for developing his technical skills while also helping him build discipline, values, and character. He also appreciates Tanduay for giving him the opportunity to learn, work, and grow.

For fellow Dualtech trainees who may feel that they are starting with little knowledge, Michael has a simple message: do not be afraid to say, “I don’t know.” Instead, let those words be the beginning of, “I will learn.”

His journey shows that success does not happen overnight. It is built through daily effort, discipline, perseverance, and the willingness to keep learning even when the journey becomes difficult.

From a young man who once said, “I don’t know,” Michael can now confidently say, “I can do it.” His story is a reminder that where you start does not determine how far you can go, as long as you keep learning and do not give up.
