Be ready to ‘Aspire for more’: Atty. Robredo encourages and also challenges new Electromechanics Graduates

At the recent commencement exercises, 113 work-trainees received their diplomas for the 2-year Electromechanics Technology course. Atty. Leni Robredo was the Guest of Honor and Speaker. The ceremony was attended by representatives from various organizations including:

As if reading the aspirations of the gathered graduates, Atty. Robredo– who chairs Angat Pinas Foundation — praised the graduates in her speech while giving them a challenge: “Your entrance and enduring stay here in Dualtech is proof that despite the many hardships of life, your hearts are ablaze with hope. That is the reason why I truly admire each of you for taking a chance on yourselves and pushing through with the 2 years of training… Now, it is not wrong to aspire for even ‘More’. It is not unfair to dream of better things for oneself and for your families, but part and parcel of those dreams is the responsibility and duty of taking action through fair and honest means. And when the time comes that those dreams are finally reality, be instruments of hope for those most in need.”

James Manunday gave the Salamat Po Speech on behalf of the batch. He hails from Ozamis City and is the 10th sibling of a big family. He shared that he had his lowest point of his training when he was informed on the phone by his father of his mother’s unexpected death. He sadly recalled that his mother actually looked forward to this day of celebration, but that he is sure she is proud of him. James ended his speech with heartfelt advice to his batch mates: “Oftentimes, our parents show us they are not bothered by any adverse difficulties, but behind their smiles are many problems or illnesses. We end up forgetting to ask how they are, or if they actually still eat enough, or whether the money they sent is actually meant for more urgent things. They cannot bear seeing their children enduring so much, just to achieve these goals in life… That’s why we graduates need to reach out regularly to our parents and make them feel we care for them.”

He expressed his thanks to Lao Foundation for helping him in his studies and to Cummins Sales& Services Phils. for giving him the chance to have on-the-job training.

Engr. Romel T. Baccay, the incoming Alumni Relations Coordinator, led the oath-taking of the graduates as new members of the Dualtech Center Alumni Association.
