Dualtech Center reviews industry skills requirement with University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P)

As part of Dualtech’s efforts to develop training programs that are aligned with industry requirements, the school collaborated with University of Asia & the Pacific (UA&P), to review the feasibility of adding complementary courses such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Electromechanics Technology.
Dualtech Center invited company partners to a Round-Table Discussion last September 6, 2023 at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P), Pasig City. This collaborative session aims to identify the specific skills and competencies required in the realm of ICT, which will be basis for any possible realignment and enhancements with the ongoing Electromechanics Technology curriculum. Seven company partners of Dualtech were present at the event, namely: Enchanted Kingdom, Asia Integrated Machine, Inc.,Team Pacific Corporation, Monde Nissin Corporation, Ibiden Philippines, Inc., Reel Service Phils., Inc., Elektrowerk Inc.

Mr. Chipi Buenafe, presented a PowerPoint presentation titled: “The Skills Framework Paradigm and the Case of the Information Technology Industry in the Philippines.” Some of the topics were: Matching skills in ICT, Describing skills mismatch, and the Philippine and Singapore Skills Framework. After the presentation of Mr. Buenafe, there was an open forum and time for attendees to ask questions and give feedback.

There were some notable points taken during the open forum segment, mainly: training in networking; emphasis about training in change management; analyses training, similar to the typical discipline from engineers; incorporation of ICT in specific domains/verticals (e.g. ICT in finance, ICT in manufacturing, ICT in retail); programming / coding as an in-demand element; and ICT literacy as a deliverable to clients.

Dualtech Center continues to actively seek insights and recommendations from its industry partners to ensure that the skills programs align with industry demands, producing highly employable Electromechanic professionals.
