“Enabling adult school dropouts to continue studying through Alternative Learning Centers.”

ALS is a parallel learning system that provides a practical option to the existing formal instruction. When one does not have or cannot access formal education in schools, ALS is an alternate or substitute. ALS includes both the non-formal and informal sources of knowledge and skills.

The Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, enabled thousands of school dropouts to restart their education through 19 Alternative Learning Centers. These centers promote the Alternative Learning System (ALS). Some students who finished High School through ALS were given further opportunities by continuing their education in Dualtech.

It was their Regional Manager, Mr. Mico Jimenez, who recommended Dualtech to be one of Cebuana Lhuillier’s partner institution for scholarship. Since 2001, Cebuana has been implementing scholarship program within 11 educational institution. Children and employees of PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies enjoy the privilege to have such scholarship.

Mr. William De los Reyes, a beneficiary, has this to say: “ Many people say opportunity knocks once. But for me, there was more. I am very fortunate to be given the chance to study at Dualtech and at the same time be one of the scholars of Cebuana Lhuiller in 2011. I am grateful that they gave me this opportunity. Wherever I am now and will be in the future, Cebuana Lhuillier and the people behind it will always be part of my journey.”

Aside from the recommendation of Mr. Jimenez, Cebuana saw the potential of Dualtech scholars’ having high employability upon graduation. The transformation of each student is also an important factor Cebuana considered in trusting Dualtech as their partner. In 16 years of partnership with Dualtech, Cebuana has graduated 64 scholars.
