absABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya partners with Dualtech and its Alumni Association for Community Service

ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya invited Dualtech Center to visit one of its adopted communities in San Roque, San Rafael, Bulacan to invite prospect scholars to enroll in its program. As they believe in the value of quality technical education, character formation, and industry partnership, the foundation introduced Dualtech as its academe partner that will provide these students the right training under its key priority areas for livelihood and employment.

The project started by having some indigent families from the deprived areas to a focus group discussion organized by ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya to identify the immediate needs of the community and one that topped the list was employment. “We found out that those age from 20 to 30 years ay walang mga trabaho. Yung iba ay nakakahanap nga pero seasonal lang. After three months, wala na rin”, Levi of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya shared. The parents’ occupations are mostly into construction and farming which later on was the fate of their children. “Lumabas man sila ng lugar nila, wala rin job offer because of lack of skills training”, she added.

Simultaneously while giving an orientation about Dualtech, a seminar about Residential Wiring and Safety was given by Mr. Mike Bernal, Dualtech Alumnus and freelance electrical contractor. Mike presented in his short training the best practices in electrical wiring and the common misconception about electricity.

The participants were identified from among the locals in San Roque who have the potential for leadership. This will capacitate them with skills that would somehow meet the common goal - to improve the quality of living in the community.

ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya and Dualtech Center started the partnership in 2016 through the production of audio-visual presentation, program guesting, and eventually community services through skills training and scholarship.
