"We are proud to say that we have 23 highly qualified, internationally-acknowledged skilled workers who came from Dualtech. There will be a lot of challenges pero hindi mawawala ang Tatak Dualtech. Yan ang magdadala sayo sa success." -- Mr. Romulo Mercado Jr. | Director, Human Resources | Atlantic Gulf and Pacific Company of Manila, Inc. (October 03, 2015)
It was last year when we launched our project with AG&P. This project called Project Aspire and it was fortunate that I am a part of the team who launched this program. We agreed in the program. We came here. We experienced the passion, the grief, yung suffering personally. I had the experience to hear talks kung gaano ka gusto ng estudyanteng pumasok sa Dualtech. We have chosen the best people na isasama sa aming kumpanya. Fortunately after 6 months nilang nandito, we were able to transfer them to Bauan sa Batangas. We were able to house them pati po yung pagkain nila at tirahan. This is how we managed the project. Fortunately we are proud to say that today we have a total of 23 highly qualified internationally acknowledged skilled workers who came from Dualtech.
I am proud of this especially sa ating Dualtech family. I even go to the Visayas, Mindanao, sa Bataan, Cebu, Davao. I even jumped to Malaysia pag wala and even exploring Vietnam kung kukulangin talaga. We have a lot of welders in the Philippines pero ilan lang yun ang mga qualified sa international standard that we have set. Even our clients in Australia and the other one is Yamal project which is Russia, 16 po dun ang nag qualified na welders. Ang 15 naman yung FCAW, isa yung SMAW. The best thing about it, you can imagine the student is earning as much as they can.
Yun ang story ng ating first batch. Hopefully it will not end and we are hoping and praying that it will continue. There will have lots of talk again and we are hoping we find ways to improve and we find ways to fund the program. Also, that's how I met Dualtech.
After 10 to 20 years ang matitira na lang po siguro sa kumpanya namin ay ako na lang at ang Dualtech. I asked myself, ano nga ba ang secret formula? I am sure meron within you the inspiration that was taught by the school. You have that dream connected to your parents at ang parents nyo naman ay deretso ang pag gabay at pag bibigay inspirasyon sa inyo. I also have that one on how to be successful in life and chosen career. Number 1 is I remember the philosopher Socrates. What is the importance of this when I was starting my career. I asked my self, sino ba ako at ano ba ang gusto ko maging at ano ba ang aking kalakasan? Ano ba ang aking kahinaan? San ba ako magaling? Did you ask yourself nung una mahilig ba ako sa kuryente, mahilig ba ako sa mga machines. The First Step to be successful is knowing yourself. It is not the people on outside who will tell you what to do but it's you who will decide. Sino ba ako? Ano ang kaya kung gawin? Ano nga ba ang aking strength and weaknesses after knowing yourself. Alam mo na ang iyong kalakasan at kahinaan, you need to set your goal.
That is the second tip natin, according to Steven Covey “Begin with an end in mind”. Ngayun pa lang alam nyo na kung yung mga nabangit na nag train sa Nestle dapat maging manager kayo one of these days and even presidents and even chairman after several years. Set your goal. Since you know already yourself, set your goal on what you have to do. You have to sharpen the tools that sharpen yourself. Study harder and harder para pag naka graduate kayo ngayun marunong na kayo. Do you think you should stop from learning?
This is the good thing about Dualtech, the support of Dualtech will still be here. As I understood, yung mga latest technology practice in internet sharpens your tools. If you want to make a difference, if you want to be recognized, if you want to speak to many people, you should be different from the rest of the people. How will you do that? You sharpen your tools. Kailangan magaling ka sa linya mo. Sabi nga ng teacher ko, find a place in the industries mula Batanes hangang Sulu kung san ka magaling at pag nakita mo yun then lalo mo pa pag ka galingan. Mag-aral kapa.
Next is Push yourself to the limit. Itodo nyo na. Itong pilosopiya na to ay baliktad. Ang sabi ko naman sa sarili ko, I am not going to push myself to the limit, I will go beyond the limit. Conquer the area which you did not conquer before. Explore yung mga bagay na hindi mo pa na eexplore for you to be successful. You need to be different. You should know yourself. You should know your goals. Alam mo yung iyong pinag-aralan and at the same time you don't need to push yourself to the limits. Go beyond the limits. If ang oras ng trabaho ay 7am to 7pm, push yourself to the limits na yun. Mga 2 hours overtime na kayo nun. That is pushing yourself to the limits.
This is the very important not just to push yourself to the limits if you want to become successful and go beyond, go beyond where you are right now and explore what can you explore. If you want to be the manager, you need to be different. You need to excel in what you are doing. That's a good challenge for you. Lastly itong aking formula on how to become successful again, uulitin ko you set your goals. You practice prayer and work. Lastly, how to measure your success; if you look to your parents and you ask them pano ko ba masasabi na naging succesful ang parents natin; if you look to the board of trustees ng Dualtech. Yung management ng Dualtech, do you think they are successful? Eto ang aking huling measurement of success, it is really for Dualtech family and your parents to become successful. I want you to invite this to your pilosophy in life. Success in life is measured not only the things you achieved in your life but most importantly by the blessings you shared to others. What you have experienced in Dualtech is the reflection of the success of the company and of the foundation. Kayo pong mga magulang sa tulong po ng ating mga supporters, both of you have shared this glimpsed of success within you na naishare nyo ang success sa inyong mga anak. Yung values na yan, for you to be successful, you should transfer yung inspiration sa kanila. Success can be measured only kapag ikaw na mismo ang nakaka tulong sa mga kapatid mo, sa kapitbahay mo, sa magulang mo, sa barangay mo, sa bayan, and most importantly sa country mo. I believed Mr. Johnny that this is the level of success that we had experienced here in Dualtech.
It is my pride to speak to you at icongratulate ang mga magulang. I want you to say thank you to your parents. Ang kahirapan ramdam natin, yung trabaho yung energy nyo and inspiration in your life. All of us have this energy but then the energy you have right now, you need to convert it to the positive energy. When you go out to this school, you go out to the jungle, it is a jungle out there. One thing lang ang sasabihin ko, maintain the virtue you learn from this school. I was challenged many times to stay on my standard or go beyond my standard. I stand firm to my beliefs. Kayo din ay ganun kung ano yung tinuro sa inyo na mga values and virtues, you stand for it. There will be a lot of challenges pero hindi mawawala ang tatak Dualtech. Kung ano yung dala mong pangalan, that will be with the rest of your life. Yan ang magdadala sayo sa success.
